Labor Day Weekend 2010
It will be a weekend of birthday cheer, summer farewells, excellent champagne, wild story-telling and the reconnection of old friends. Labor Day in Venice will be a international affair of events designed to recollect the past and look forward to the future. A weekend to enjoy the finer things in life including fair breezes, crushed grapes, tantalizing fare and tears of laughter.
Friday Morning, September 3 10AM: Awaken your senses, warm your muscles and get your weekend off to an excellent start with a leisurely kayak ride along the Malibu coast followed by lunch in Malibu Cross Creek village.
Friday Night, September 3 6PM: A Stop in Champagne before Dining in Germany
To kick off Chris's 40th Birthday Celebration weekend, the von Wrede clan will be hosting a champagne cocktail affair before releasing revelers to a no-host night of casual German dining at Three Square Cafe on Abbot Kinney. Come invite little bubbles to go straight to your head before you set off across the Alps to find some spaetzle or a pretzel burger with some avocado fries.
Saturday Morning, September 4 9AM: Tour de France via Venice
Imagine yourself in France racing with the pack in the Tour as you hop on your bike and enjoy the waning summer's luxurious rays. Led by Jason Szabo of Team Tater and Chris Wrede of Team Doc, you could end up anywhere. After a good day's ride, retire to Villa J Wrede for some refreshment, a shower and some downtime before the big night.
Saturday Night, September 4 5PM: A Sicilian Night in Venice
You will nearly hear the strains of the violins as you step across the threshold at Villa Clement to enter a Sicilian Night in Venice. Prepare yourself for a night of warm breezes, the flickering of the firepit and a magical evening around the long table of family and friends where the food and the drink never stops.
Sunday Morning, September 5 10AM: The Brunch of Nations
Any survivors of the whirlwind international tour of this 40th Celebration Weekend are welcome to enjoy a parting brunch sure to help you recover from the previous merriment and give all the perfect chance to relive the memories of the weekend.
